As part of Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana's (RHI's) continuum of care, we provide services and supports designed to improve function, independence in the community, and independence in activities of life, work and recreation. RHI's Northwest Brain Injury Center provides individual and group therapies and rehabilitation neuropsychology.
CARF Accreditation demonstrates RHI’s commitment to continuously improve service quality and to focus on the satisfaction of the persons served. Accreditation assists RHI to improve the quality of our services and meet internationally recognized standards.
Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS)
Our experienced clinical staff have received certification as brain injury specialists through the Brain Injury Association of America’s Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists. RHI values our CBIS-certified staff as the certification gives clinicians the tools to understand the unique needs of persons recovering from brain injury and requires certificants to stay abreast of current resources in the field.

Bridging the Gap Support Group
The Bridging the Gap Support Group is held at the Northwest Brain Injury Center in collaboration with the Brain Injury Association of Indiana. In 2007, this group won the Brain Injury Association of Indiana Support Group of the Year award. The Bridging the Gap support group is for survivors of brain injury and their family and caregivers. It is intended to meet the needs of individuals not only going through the process of outpatient therapies, but also for those who have either been discharged from treatments or have never received treatments.
Bridging the Gap meets the fourth Monday of every month from 7-9 pm. Typical group sessions vary from splitting out caregivers and survivors into different sessions and providing support, problem-solving through pertinent situations, goal-setting, and providing information about return-to-work, increasing social interactions, return to driving, dealing with medication issues, Medicaid, disability, or any other issue that is deemed important. Apart from the monthly meetings, social gatherings are also held to decrease social loneliness and increase support in the community.
