Tiago S. Jesus is a post-doctoral fellow in Health Services and Outcomes Research, Institute of Public Health and Medicine, Northwestern University, since July 2021. From 2016-2021 Dr. Jesus was a post-doctoral scholar associated with the Global Health and Tropical Medicine & WHO Collaborating Center for Health Workforce Policy and Planning, New University, Lisbon. Dr. Jesus was a practicing, full-time, Occupational Therapist in Portugal for 15 years and holds a post-professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate (PP-OTD) from the Boston University since 2021.
After concluding his European PhD in Health Psychology in 2013, Dr. Jesus produced independent research consistently published in top specialty journals. Dr. Jesus has authored and co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles, often as first, senior, or corresponding author. Overall, Dr. Jesus’s research addresses international health policy, systems, and service research, including workforce issues, in the rehabilitation, disability and occupational therapy fields. His research also tackles quality improvement, person-centered care, the patient experience with care, and implementation research, often as cross-crossing themes. Methodologically, Dr. Jesus has been developing expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches, applied to knowledge syntheses, ecological studies, and cross-national comparisons. Dr. Jesus has published his research in top health and rehabilitation journals, is a frequent peer-reviewer in major specialty and generalist health journals, was named Elite Reviewer 2019 for the Arch Phys Med Rehabil, and has been Guest Editor, Associate Editor, and Editor Board Member of peer-reviewed, international journals in the health systems research and human resources arena.
