    About

After growing up poor and Black in a Southern rural community, Jerome Adams went on to lead the 6,000-person U.S. Public Health Service as “America’s Doctor” during a worldwide pandemic. As Surgeon General, he brought a passionate commitment to fighting issues that his own family and community experienced, including limited healthcare access, chronic disease, substance use disorder and ensuing stigma, tobacco addiction, maternal health, mental illness and the opioid epidemic. Adams was awarded a scholarship to Indiana University Medical School, earned his Masters in Public Health from UC Berkeley and went on to work in private practice as an anesthesiologist in rural Indiana. He was recruited back to Indiana University Medical School as an associate professor. During this time, Dr. Adams caught the eye of Indiana Governor Mike Pence, who appointed him as Indiana State Health Commissioner. Adams triumphed in that role, handling Ebola, Zika, the nation’s largest HIV and Hepatitis C outbreak associated with IV drug use, and a lead contamination situation in Northern Indiana that drew comparisons to the crisis in Flint, Michigan. His leadership during the HIV/Hepatitis C outbreak has been heralded for dramatically reducing infection via a needle exchange program that Dr. Adams championed through a highly conservative state legislature, paving the way for many other states to subsequently start or expand such services. In 2016, Dr. Adams followed then-Vice President Pence to Washington as America’s 20th Surgeon General. As Surgeon General, Adams faced three consecutive category five hurricanes, an e-cigarette/vaping epidemic among youth, and a once-in-a-century COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout his career, he has continued a hands-on approach to medicine, maintaining hospital privileges and becoming the only Surgeon General in recent history to actively practice while in office.

    About

Anisha Yadav is a Senior Vice President for the Colliers Capital Markets team, based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Yadav was born and raised in Carmel, Indiana, graduating from Park Tudor School in 2009. She then went on to pursue her Bachelors of Arts at DePauw University where she double majored in communications and political science, graduating in 2013. Finding a passion for solving complex problems in college, Yadav went to work for Simon Property Group as a turn-around manager across North America. There she helped turn around malls financially and to help the malls generate community support for the areas in which they served. After 4 years with Simon, Yadav pursued her MBA full-time at Indiana University Kelley School of Business in Bloomington, Indiana. There she majored in finance (with a focus in real estate), management and marketing. Graduating in 2019 with her MBA, Yadav joined Duke Realty where she became Vice President of Capital Transactions. Yadav oversaw $1.5+ billion in joint-venture assets – managing the relationship with key partners and created new joint ventures to drive the company’s growth. She also closed over $2.2 billion in transactions in roughly 3.5 years before Duke Realty was acquired in October 2022. Wanting to stay in the Indianapolis community, Yadav joined Colliers in late 2022. Having a passion for real estate and networking, the role at Colliers has allowed her focus on relationship building and to be the Vice President of a local non-profit real estate young professional group; Indy REAL. Yadav and her family have been touched by the RHI community after Yadav’s grandfather – Dr. Hira L. Khanna was a patient in 2020. Thanks to the expertise, care, and hospitality of the entire staff at RHI, Dr. Khanna was able to regain much of his strength so that he could see his son get married shortly before he passed December 22, 2020. The Khanna-Yadav family saw how Dr. Khanna came back to life during his time at RHI and are avid supporters of the hospital – a way for them to keep Dr. Khanna’s love for his family, the field of medicine, and patient care alive.
